The following is an outline of some of the current programs that the Salem Animal Rescue League has available:

NH Animal Population Control Program - Plan A:
Available To
  • NH Residents who have adopted a cat or dog from a shelter.
Costs
  • $40.00 - Pet owners pay this fee directly to the veterinarian
  • Pre-Surgery examination and immunizations are NOT covered.
  • In heat, pregnant spays, retained testicles or any other extraordinary expenses will result in additional charges.
Procedure
  • Obtain a surgical authorization form and a list of participating vets from the shelter where you adopted your pet.
  • Chose a veterinarian from the list and call for an appointment. Present authorization form and pay the $40.00 fee to the veterinarian.

NH Animal Population Control Program - Plan B
Available To
  • NH Residents who receive, or are eligible for, benefits from: Food Stamps; Aid to the Needy Blind; Medicaid; Healthy Kids Gold; Old Age Assistance; AFDC; Supplemental Security Income (SSI); Aid to the Permanently and Totally Disabled
Costs
  • Fee is $30 for an uncomplicated surgery - Pet owner pays fee directly to the veterinarian.
  • This covers a pre surgical exam and up to $30 in immunizations
Procedure
  • Obtain a Plan B application, and list of veterinarians from an animal shelter, NH Division of Welfare District Office, or NH Department of Agriculture, APC Program, P.O. Box , Concord, NH 03301, 603-271-3697
  • Complete Part 1 of the application and return it to the APC Program with proof of eligibility.
  • Call a participating veterinarian for an appointment.
  • Present Plan B application and pay $30 to the vet
NH Spaying and Altering Service Program
Available To
  • NH residents who need financial assistance.
Costs
  • Female Dogs $70 Male Dogs $50
  • Female Cats $50 Male Cats $35
Procedure
  • Call or write for an application: NHSAS, 8 Hutchins Street, Concord, NH 03301
    (603) 224-1361 (before 2:00pm)
  • If approved, mail in application with appropriate fee and you will be sent a certificate and list of participating veterinarians.
  • Call and make an appointment with a participating veterinarian.
Friends of Animals Program
Available To
  • Any cat or dog owner (regardless of financial need).
Costs
  • Female Dogs $75 Male Dogs $54
  • Female Cats $55 Male Cats $40
Procedure
  • Call or go online for an application: 800-321-PETS - 800-321-7387 . www.FriendsOfAnimals.org
  • Mail in application with appropriate fee.
  • Upon receipt of certificate, make an appointment with any participating veterinarian. Participating vets are limited; a list will be sent with your application.

Low Cost Spay / Neuter Resources
Procedure
  • Contact the NH Spay/Neuter Hotline www.animalallies.org (800) 990-SPAY for assistance with low cost spay/neuter appointments for cats.

NH/Mass Feral Cat Spay/NeuterTNR Program
Available To
  • Any feral cat that needs to be spayed/neutered 
Costs
  • Depending on size of colony. Low cost program.
Procedure
  • Contact the NH Spay/Neuter Hotline www.animalallies.org (800) 990-SPAY for assistance
  • Make an appointment
  • Transport cat to Salem, NH for surgery 
  • Pick up and return cat to colony

Mother Cat with litter of kittens Spay/Neuter Program
Available To
  • Any female cat with a litter of kittens
Costs
  • $10 for Mother cat spay &
  • Surrender of entire litter of kittens to Salem Animal Rescue League-which will be neutered and put up for adoption.
Procedure
  • Contact the NH Spay/Neuter Hotline www.animalallies.org (800) 990-SPAY for assistance
  • Make an appointment
  • Transport Mother cat to Salem, NH for surgery 
  • Surrender kittens to SARL
  • Return to pick up Mother cat

Massachusetts "No Excuse Monday" Cat Spay/Neuter Program
Available To
  • Mass residents who need assistance with a feral cat or low cost spay/ neuter from the following towns: Lawrence, Haverhill, Bradford, Merrimac, Groveland, Methuen, North Andover, Andover   
Costs
  • Sliding Scale depending on finacial needs
Procedure

  • Once approved an appointment will be set up   
  • Location of surgery hospital in Salem, NH
