What We Provide
SARL is committed to providing each volunteer with a rewarding and productive experience. We offer a well-structured volunteer program and a chance to make a difference in the lives of our animals. We provide all the necessary orientation, training and support.

To become a SARL volunteer:

• You will need to complete an application
• Attend an orientation with our volunteer coordinator and a program director.
• Train for 2-3 weeks in your area of interest before we put you on the regular schedule.
• We ask that you commit to minimum of 6 hours per month.
• All volunteers must be at least 18 years old to work directly with the animals. (Must be over 21 to work with dogs).

Orientations are held on the 1 st Tuesday of every month at 6pm and the 3 rd Saturday at 10am at the shelter. Click here for the full list of dates. Though we try to accommodate every eligible Volunteer applicant, we cannot promise that by coming to these orientations you will be given a position.

Please note that we will make every effort to schedule you on the day/time that you requested however, if that time or day is not available we request that you contact us again at a later date. MISSION STATEMENT

Salem Animal Rescue League is a not-for-profit, primarily volunteer, limited admission shelter funded by private donations committed to providing safe-haven and assistance to cats and dogs in need through animal rescue, humane education, adoptions, and on-site vetting with a 100% spay/neuter policy.
